Join Melissa Brown (Certified Hellerwork Practitioner and Lead Instructor) and Brett Holland (Certified Advanced Rolfer) for a comprehensive 4-day training designed for manual therapists seeking to expand their skills and enhance their practice. With over 50 years of combined experience, Melissa and Brett will guide you through the foundational principles of Hellerwork Structural Integration (SI), providing tools to elevate your ability to assess, understand, and address the body’s patterns.
What is Hellerwork Structural Integration?
Hellerwork Structural Integration is a hands-on bodywork and movement education modality that focuses on restoring the body’s alignment, balance, and ease by working with fascia, functional movement, and the mind-body connection. By integrating bodywork, movement education, and somatic dialogue, Hellerwork helps clients achieve long-lasting change in posture, movement patterns, and overall well-being.
This training will provide tools to incorporate Hellerwork principles into your practice, helping you better understand your clients’ needs, improve outcomes, and grow your professional expertise.
Workshop Overview
Day 1: Foundations of Hellerwork Structural Integration
- Introduction to fascia and its role in structural integrity and movement.
- Tensegrity Principles: Understanding how tension and compression work together to support the body.
- Pattern Recognition: Learn how to identify postural and movement patterns in standing alignment.
- Planes of Movement: Introduction to observing movement and alignment through spatial planes.
- Practice and Learn Body Mechanics to support you in your own body while working.
Day 2: Session 1 – Inspiration
- Introduction to the first session of the Hellerwork series.
- Learn the anatomy, functional movement principles, and fascia strokes specific to Session 1: Inspiration.
- Start with opening the breath, working the diagphram and aligning the ribcage over the pelvis.
- Explore Hellerwork Movement: Tools for teaching clients how to move with more ease and alignment.
- Hands-on practice: Follow the sequence of Session 1 and integrate functional movement cues.
Day 3: Inquiry and Session 2 – Standing on your own two feet
- Somatic Psychology and Inquiry: Learn how to use dialogue to help clients connect their physical patterns to emotional and mental states.
- Introduction to Session 2: Focus on balancing the 3 arches of the feet and aligning the feet and legs with the pelivs.
- Practice bodywork techniques, functional movement, and somatic inquiry for deeper integration.
Day 4: Integration and Session 3 – Reaching out
- Pulling it all together: Movement, bodywork, and somatic dialogue in practice.
- Learn Session 3: Focus on fascia along the lateral line of the body to promote balance and expansion from front to back.
- Hands-on practice: Refine your skills in functional movement and postural assessment.
- Integration: Develop confidence in offering the first three sessions of the Structural Integration series.

- Dates: Two options available – In-person in Duncan, BC, or Virtual (two separate weekends).

- Virtual Option Dates April 19th and 20th and April 26th and 27th

Melissa Brown is a Certified Hellerwork Structural Integration Practitioner, Lead Hellerwork Instructor, Somatic Counselor, and Functional Medicine Coach with over 30 years of experience in body-centered healing practices. As a dedicated teacher and practitioner, Melissa integrates her extensive knowledge of fascia, movement, and somatic psychology to support students and clients in transforming their understanding of the body and its innate wisdom.
Melissa’s work is grounded in helping others discover alignment, vitality, and balance while addressing the underlying patterns that shape posture, movement, and well-being. Brett Holland – Hellerwork Course Instructor
Brett Holland is a Certified Advanced Rolfer™ with over a decade of experience in Rolfing Structural Integration, specializing in releasing trauma, strain, and injuries stored in the body. He completed his foundational training at the Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado, in 2010 and advanced training under Jan Sultan in 2018.
Brett’s approach is deeply rooted in the principles of Rolfing, emphasizing the integration of the body’s structure to achieve balance, ease, and alignment. Through fascial manipulation and movement education, he helps clients understand how to optimize the body’s relationship with gravity and unlock greater vitality, resilience, and fluid movement.
